Dutch letters are not joined within a word (i.e. not a cursive script), at least not obligatory. It means that spacing between letters can be applied relatively safely, if the design calls for it.
Font
Dutch uses 11 additional, non-standard Latin letters, that may not be shared with other variaties of the same writing system. If you wish to use a specific font, it is important that it supports these symbols.
Appearance
The language is written in the left-to-right fashion. If the original text was in a language with the opposite writing direction, the overall layout should be mirrored in the process of desktop publishing.
